Services Provided
An Adult may need the services of a Speech and Language
Therapist if they experience the following:
- difficulty finding (retrieving) the right words to say or write down (expressive dysphasia)
- difficulty understanding (comprehending) what is said or written down (receptive dysphasia)
- difficulty making themselves understood because their speech is 'slurred' (dysarthric)
- difficulty eating/drinking and/or swallowing because of a known neurological injury/accident or disease (dysphagia)
- difficulty speaking and/or swallowing following head and neck cancer
- difficulty speaking fluently
A Child may need the services of a Speech and Language
Therapist if they:
- have difficulty following instructions, and understanding what is said to them
- have very little speech
- have speech that is difficult to understand
- have a stammer
- have difficulty concentrating and taking turns
- have a specific diagnosis of conditions such as; autism, dyspraxia, dyslexia, Down's Syndrome, Developmental Delay etc.
Referrals
We accept self-referrals and referrals from health visitors, school nurses, doctors, consultants and allied health
professionals. In all cases the client's GP details will be obtained.
We can visit you at home or at an pre-arranged consulting room. There will be an assessment followed by treatment
and/or advice. We also work with family or carers when appropriate, and can also offer fun and informative training
to staff at Schools and Nursing Homes for example.
Before undertaking assessment or therapy the client will always be offered information about the availability of
NHS treatment.
FEES (as of 1/4/08):
Initial Assessment:
£88.00
(one hour, including brief written report)
Initial Assessment: £100.00
(up to two hours, including detailed report)
Further Assessment, therapy or review per hour £57.00
Session with carers in lieu of therapy per hour £57.00
Half hour session
£42.00
A block of one hour or half hour sessions, payed for in advance, can be booked at a reduced rate of £51.00 or £36.00.
For example: a block of 4 hourly sessions = £204.00
a block of 4 half hourly sessions = £144.00
Saturday and Evening charges per hour £60.00
Saturday and Evening charges per half hour £45.00
A block of one hour, or half hour sessions on a Saturday or evening can be booked in advance for a reduced fee of
£55.00 per hour or £40.00 per half hour.
Travel £0.27
per mile
Please note payment is required after each session, by cash or cheque.
Location
We are prepared to travel in and around Manchester, Cheshire and North Derbyshire.
